History Quiz

History quiz is a way to begin discussing gender equality and inequality. The method provides historical facts and gives you an opportunity to reflect on how progress has been preceded by struggle. The quiz also allows participants to reflect on what is self-evident today and what might be self-evident tomorrow.

Instructions:

The history quiz can be conducted in various ways,

  1. Hand out papers with events and years to the group. Then, read each question out loud and let the participants select the answer they think is right. Then go through the correct answers and take the opportunity to talk a little about what happened in each respective year.
  2. Divide a larger group into smaller ones. Give each group a paper with events and years and let the groups, within a set time limit, answer the questions. Then collect the groups for a joint run down of the correct answers. You can then take the opportunity to talk a little about what happened in each respective year.

Download examples of events and years on the right. Feel free to choose the ones you want and add years that fit the subjects you want to touch upon.
