Swedish Policy

The Swedish delegation for equality between women and men was established in the early 1970s, and Sweden has recognised gender equality policy as a separate policy area ever since.

‘Gender equality is equality between women and men, who should have the same opportunities to shape society and their own lives. This area includes issues such as power, influence, finances, education, work and physical integrity.’

(From the Swedish Government’s website)

SEK 239 million is allocated to gender equality policy in 2016.
